Setting Up the SendGrid Records at your domain provider
This guide will walk you through creating three CNAME records and one TXT record for your domain name at your domain provider. These records are used to give LeadJabber permission to send emails on your domain’s behalf.
Before you begin:
- Make sure you have logged in to your account at your domain provider.
- Have the CNAME and TXT records values ready.
Steps:
- Navigate to DNS Management: Locate the DNS management section within your domain provider account. This might be called “DNS Records,” “Domain Management,” or something similar.
- Select your Domain: Choose the domain name for which you want to create the records.
- Add the CNAME Records: Click the button to “Add a new record” or “Create Record.” Here’s what you’ll need to fill in:
- Record Type: Select “CNAME” from the dropdown menu.
- Host Name: Enter the host name-value you received from LeadJabber.
- Value: Enter the value name-value you received from LeadJabber.
- TTL (Optional): This is typically left at the default value (often 1 hour). It controls how long other servers cache the record information.
- Repeat the process for the rest of the CNAME records: Click “Save” or “Add Record” to create the CNAME record. Then, repeat steps 3a-3d to create the rest of the CNAME records.
- Repeat for TXT Record: Click “Save” or “Add Record” to create the TXT (dmarc) record. This record is for making sure emails from your domain will be approved by for example Google and Yahoo inboxes. Click “Save” or “Create Record” to finalize the TXT record when ready.
Propagation Time: It can take up to 24 hours for the changes you made to your DNS records to propagate across the internet. Be patient and allow some time for everything to work as expected.
Additional Notes:
Consult your domain provider’s specific documentation if you encounter any issues or have further questions about the process.
By following these steps, you can successfully set up CNAME and TXT records for your domain name at your domain provider.
